DIY | Mirrored Nightstands (IKEA HACK!!!)
Видео
00:00
everybody April here and welcome back to
00:02
my DIY home series and in this video I’m
00:05
going to be showing you how to make your
00:07
very own merit nightstand so what I’ll
00:11
be using is this chest that I got from
00:14
Ikea and it is the IKEA
00:16
Raths now you can use any nice in that
00:19
you want but this is just one that I
00:21
decided to use so of course as always
00:25
we’re going to start off by removing our
00:28
drawer knobs and I’m going to spray the
00:35
outer portion of the nightstand with a
00:37
metallic silver spray paint and you just
00:42
want to spray the outer corners you
00:44
don’t have to spray the entire surface
00:47
of the nightstand in the drawers because
00:50
only the outer parts will be shown so
00:56
this is what it’s looking like so far
01:00
just make sure that you get a couple of
01:02
layers of spray paint on the outer
01:05
corners and the bottom of course alright
01:12
so now for the fun part so I got my
01:14
mirrors from Lowe’s and if you didn’t
01:19
know Lowe’s does cut mirror and glass
01:22
for free obviously only if you purchase
01:25
from them so basically all I did was
01:27
measured my nightstand I measured the
01:30
size the top and the drawers and I took
01:32
my measurements to Lowe’s and they
01:35
hooked me up with my mirrors now you can
01:37
also check out your local glass and
01:40
mirror shop but depending on where you
01:42
live that may be a little expensive and
01:45
I was the case for me so my best bet was
01:48
to go to Lowe’s so now I’m gonna take
01:50
some mirror marble and granite adhesive
01:53
and I got this from Home Depot for
01:56
around $4 and I’m just gonna take that
01:58
with my coke gun and apply a generous
02:00
amount of adhesive to the back of the
02:03
mirror okay so now I’m gonna take my
02:07
mirror and apply it to the side of the
02:10
nightstand and once I have it in the
02:12
perfect position
02:13
I’m gonna go ahead and apply pressure
02:20
and I’m gonna go ahead and work on the
02:24
drawers I’m just going to do the same
02:26
thing apply a generous amount of
02:28
adhesive to the back of the mirror and
02:33
place the mirror onto the drawer and
02:36
once I have it in the perfect position
02:38
I’m gonna go ahead and apply pressure
02:53
alright so once I have my mirrors in
02:55
place I’m gonna go ahead and take my
02:57
measuring tape and Mark where I want my
02:59
dresser knobs
03:00
now with this step you have to make sure
03:02
that you’re very accurate and precise
03:04
with your markings because you don’t
03:05
want any of your drawer knobs to be
03:07
lopsided and out of place and these are
03:14
my journals I’ve got these from Amazon
03:16
and I will have the link in the
03:18
description box now to stick the drawer
03:21
knobs to the mirror I’m going to use
03:24
some e6000 glue and I’m just going to
03:26
place a small dab of the glue on the
03:29
back of the knob and apply it to the
03:31
mirror alright so now that I have
03:44
everything in place I’m going to take
03:46
some clamps and apply clamps to each of
03:49
the drawers and the size and type of the
03:53
nightstand and basically what the clamps
03:57
are going to do is add weight to the
03:59
nightstand and the drawers and allow
04:03
everything to stay in place while it
04:05
dries now at this point you want to
04:07
leave the nightstand to dry and cure for
04:09
at least 24 hours
04:14
all right so by now has been well over
04:17
24 hours and I’m just going to go ahead
04:18
and remove the clamps so here I’m just
04:23
showing you how strong the e6000 glue is
04:25
this drawer is pretty heavy especially
04:28
since I’ve added the mirror and as you
04:30
can see the drawer knobs are not budging
04:33
at all so I’m pretty confident that I
04:34
will have any issues with the drawer
04:36
knobs coming off all right so I’m just
04:40
going to go ahead and place my drawers
04:42
in and I’m just gonna wipe down my
04:52
nightstands with some Windex in a paper
04:55
towel and that is pretty much it for
05:01
this DIY you guys this was super super
05:04
super easy I love how these nightstands
05:07
came out I am so in love with them they
05:09
are gorgeous so if you’ve been shopping
05:12
for married nightstands or a mirrored
05:13
furniture in general then you already
05:15
know how expensive these pieces can get
05:18
so I highly suggest you guys try to make
05:20
it yourself it’s so easy and it will
05:22
save you a ton of money so if you
05:25
enjoyed this video please give it a
05:27
thumbs up and share with anyone that may
05:28
find it helpful and I will see you all
05:30
in my next video thanks for watching bye
