LOFT PROJECT #3: Кровать из паллет
Hello All! Welcome to Fancy smth and this is Loft Project!
My own project where I create a loft style in one bedroom apartment
And what do you think is gonna be this time?
A pallet bed!
LISTEN Even if i had millions of dollars
I wouldn’t still buy a bed,
I would do it myself
cause I like it so much!
It’s so stylish.
I hope you like it as well,
make sure to comment what you think.
So how I found those pallets…
Regarding the question how to find
an actual new pallet —
the thing is, here we don’t have
shops selling clean brand new pallets,
they are actually never sold as an item
and just come with cargos.
So just head to craigslist
or something like that
to buy palettes from people
willing to sell them.
And you can even choose
how worn out you want the pallets to be
since they were all actually used by people.
So we bought 8 pallets
and it cost us…
Quite clean, compared to the others I’ve seen.
And I think that’s a pretty good deal
if you ask me, so I was really happy.
And we asked our friend to help us
cause our car fit only 3 pieces.
So when we got ‘em to our place,
I cleaned them and, actually,
they were not really dirty,
but I still did it.
Then sanded it with sandpaper.
We decided to make a bed
measured 160 cm by 200 cm
I think it’s a pretty comfortable size,
not the biggest, and if it’s smaller
it will just feel too narrow.
If it’s bigger —
well we can’t really afford that
cause then it will take the whole room.
So watch my video
to see how we cut it,
how many centimeters we cut off and so on.
Of course you can use any pallets
but I specifically wanted the euro pallets
because they have
this cool burned seal on the side.
I didn’t want any other pallets
but with these seals.
Now measure 20 cm
and saw it from the top
and the bottom.
Repeat the step with all of the pallets.
Woah, look at these nails.
And yes, we’ll need nails
just like that,
but new ones.
Now remove the nails
from the transversal pallet,
we’ll need it later.
And here’s what you should have.
You want to save these details too,
we put them where the saw cuts are.
Now nail them down with long nails
Make sure to hold the details from below
cuz they slip due to vibration.
Put the second pallet
and nail them down too.
what a beautyyyy!
Of course making a pallet bed
is not as easy as making
a pallet coffee table,
so you may need someone
who works out at the gym.
When it comes to the colour of our bed,
I decided to leave it as it is ad applied
a coat of a matte transparent lacquer
just so nothing clings on the bed
when climbing it.
So, reporting from now,
all is good,
we haven’t had any thorns or splinters.
So as you can see,
as long as you are responsible,
attentive, not lazy
and make sure to properly sand everything off,
cuz you do it for yourselves,
you shouldn’t have any problems.
I don’t know about the prices where you live,
but I bought 1 litre of matte lacquer
for 80 cents to be exact.
And to that price add the cost of nails and staples.
Put any mattress you want
And now i’m gonna show you how I make the bed.
Guys! As you can see,
this idea doesn’t cost much.
My husband and I like sleeping on a harder surface,
so this bed is perfect, the mattress is perfect.
Keep in mind that the stiffness of the bed
doesn’t depend on the bed itself,
but the mattress.
So those who like to sleep on a harder surface
buy a stiff mattress
and those who would prefer sleeping
in a soft bed,
can use a puffier mattress
on a softer side with springs
with springs and all the bells and whistles.
SO it all depends on the mattress.
AAAnd i also wanted to give you a little hint.
We are actually not done completely with the bed.
We have the base,
but we also need a headboard,
so write down in the comments your suggestions
what kind of headboard you’d like to see
and what material it should be made of.
I’ll be really interested in reading your ideas,
maybe your ideas will coincide with mine.
And that’s it!
We are done!
Go ahead and comment
how you like our bed
and guess what the headboard is gonna be like.
Thank you for watching, kisses to you all, Bye-bye!
